The Annual General Meeting: a great opportunity for dialogue
The Annual General Meeting of Air Liquide was held on May 7 at the Palais des Congrès in Paris. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you who found the time to attend and ask questions. All the submitted resolutions were approved. And more than 20,000 of you cast your votes on the Internet, which is a significantly higher number than last year. This outcome encourages us to continue with our digitalization strategy to complement the existing shareholders services available to you.
During this Annual General Meeting, I had the opportunity to present the strategy of your Group and its growth outlook. Our strategy is one of profitable growth over the long term. It is driven by reinforced operational competitiveness, targeted investments in growing markets, and constant innovation to open new markets and create new opportunities. The development outlook of your Group over the long term is positive, based on a strong balance sheet and sound fundamentals, major trends that act as sources of growth for our business lines, our motivated employees, the trust of our customers, and the loyal support of our shareholders.
This loyalty of our shareholders is an extremely valuable asset around which to plan our future and build for the long term. Delivering consistent performance that increases your assets is a core commitment for your Group. The dividend of €2.55 per share, and the new attribution of free shares (1 share for every 10 existing shares) effective June 2, 2014, are part of that commitment.
At the meeting held following the Annual General Meeting, some changes were made to your Group’s Board of Directors. As a result, the Board of Directors welcomes two new members: Ms. Sin-Leng Low, a Singapore citizen, and Ms. Annette Winkler, who is German. Your Board, which I will have the privilege of chairing for another 4-year term, offers a complementary mix of experiences and cultures that reflects the diversity policy implemented by your Group
