Interview with Benoît Potier,
Chairman and CEO
Promoting long-term shareholding
Your Group continues to implement its initiatives in growth markets, with particular focus on developing economies, energy, healthcare and high-tech. As highlighted in this issue of interactions, its growth in China is a perfect illustration of that policy in action. Our recent acquisition of Voltaix, a US-based company that produces novel precursors for the electronics industry, opens up new possibilities as well.
At the same time, in order to become even more competitive, Air Liquide has stepped up its efficiency programs, increasing their target for the period 2011-2015 by 30% to €1.3 billion at the beginning of this year.
Your Group, as you know, sees long-term shareholding as essential to company stability and independence. That’s why it pays particularly close attention to regulatory and fiscal changes that affect its shareholders. It is with this in mind and to promote patrimonial shareholding that I have joined other CEOs in backing the Observatory for the promotion of individual shareholding.
Lastly, I would like to mention the special award given by AGEFI* to Air Liquide at the 10th anniversary of the “Grands Prix du Gouvernement d’Entreprise” corporate governance awards. This award was attributed in recognition of your Group’s long-term strategy and commitment to delivering consistent performance and acting transparently in close contact with its shareholders. It also gives me the opportunity to pay tribute to the Air Liquide teams who are in contact with you on a daily basis.
Thank you for your loyalty and enjoy your reading!
